Mtrack Basic Features

Mtrack is a unique tracking device for the location and recovery of lost or stolen assets. Utilising a combination of GSM (mobile phone networks) and Radio Frequency (RF), Mtrack provides a revolutionary way of tracking your valuable assets both indoors and outdoors.

The Mtrack advantage:

  • The Mtrack is self-powered
  • Integrated internal antenna
  • No giveaway cables
  • Small easily concealed Unit
  • Minimal installation time
  • Tamper alarm
  • Internal motion sensor
  • Remotely controlled Unit
  • Covered by 24hr Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)

When the Mtrack is triggered, the ARC can use mobile phone partners to provide the approximate location of the unit. The internal RF homing beacon is then activated to allow pinpoint location by an authorised recovery company utilising an RF tracking device, who then liaise with the Police who then assist you to recover the stolen asset.

Alarms

An mtrack can be requested into alarm by several different methods.

Firstly it can be remotely requested by the ARC via sms, this is usually when the owner of the asset notices the asset has been stolen.

Tamper Alarm, this is when the tamper plate is removed from the Mtrack.

Movement Alarm, if a movement violation is requested on the Mtrack it will come into alarm if the unit moves for longer than the set criteria.

How it works

The Mtrack device is similar to a modern day mobile phone, it contains several of the same components and operates in a similar manner. The Mtrack device works in wake sleep cycles to conserve battery power and to make itself ever increasingly hard to find or scan.
Once an Mtrack has gone to sleep it will stay in a dormant state until its pre-selected wakeup time, once it is time for the mtrack to awake the unit powers up and checks the GSM Network for any commands or updates. An mtrack will typically wake up for 1min before taking on all of its commands and then returning to sleep or carrying out the commands it has received.
Every time the unit awakes it adds a footprint to the GSM Network to log a cell position of where the unit was located before returning to sleep.

In the event of a theft the Mtrack will be requested into alarm via the ARC, the ARC will then liase with both the finder and the depot to locate the device and inform the police. Once a finder is in the cell site they will utilise the Mtracks RF beacon to close in and pin point the device to within 1 meter.

In The Event of A Theft.

In the event of a theft it is paramount for the recovery of the asset that you report the theft to your nearest Police Station and your ARC as soon as possible. They can be contacted to report a theft at any time.

Once a unit has been reported as stolen your ARC will send you an Asset Location Form. The asset location form has several key pieces of information that must be filled in before we can start to locate the asset.

The key pieces of information are,

  1. A crime ref number, name of police station and officer reported to.
  2. The asset fleet and serial number(if applicable).
  3. Time and place of theft.
  4. Key contacts at Depot.
  5. A valid purchase order number (Finder fees are usually recoverable via your insurance but please check).
  6. An authorised signature to start the find.

We will then arrange for a finder to be dispatched and locate the asset. If your depot is due to close for a holiday period for example Christmas or New Year it is important that you contact the ARC with an emergency contact number in the event of a tamper or a theft situation.

Finder Recovery

Customer has given the above information to the ARC and provides unit number and requests recovery:

  • The ARC will put the unit into alarm
  • Upon receipt of alarm the unit will be positioned and a finder within that area put on stand by.

The finder will be requested to attend site once the unit has remained stationary for a given time. An estimated time of arrival at a location within the site will be given at this time and forwarded to the customer.

  • Once the finder is at the agreed location he will contact the ARC and the operator will assist with actual location of the unit. The customer will be notified when the finder is on site and of any developments as they happen.
  • Once the unit is located the ARC will liaise with the police, finder and the customer regarding the recovery of the asset.
  • The Finder will remain on site (unless otherwise requested) until police attend and show them the exact location, demonstrating signal strength if a visual location is not available, provide full statement and then leave site.
  • ARC will liaise with the police and the customer for identification and recovery of the asset.
